Q: Who is Phill Mason?

First and foremost, I’m just a Muso, a musician who likes to dabble, to experiment with sound and discover how instruments harmonize and clash with each other. Put simply, if it sounds good – I’m all in.

That’s what I love about creating music, there are no rules, you can do anything you like. You have the freedom to mess around like a child, imagine and wonder, until you evoke an emotion that just works, a feeling and passion for the sound.

It matters not, if I’m composing either a solo piano piece, or an epic, full orchestral trailer, if the goosebumps appear, I know I’m onto something exciting. It matters not that I want to cry, when I hear John Williams’ amazing, opening score of ET. Perhaps it’s nostalgia kicking in, or perhaps its the combination of those notes, in that order, layered with those particular instruments, that just resonates with me, in a way that brings a lump to my throat, I feel it and relate to it, so strongly, it speaks to my inner ‘Muso’ and vibrates a heartfelt love for music and the creation of it.

There are no rules to break, so be as creative as your imagination allows, compose something beautiful and share it with the world.
